stakeholders

The Fair Internship Initiative (FII) is an independent volunteer group advocating for equitable, inclusive, and high-quality internship conditions across the UN system. The United Nations (UN) is a global intergovernmental organisation promoting peace, human rights, development, and international cooperation.

impact

  1. Even large international institutions benefit from structured, standardised evaluation frameworks - clarity and consistency matter.

  2. Defining clear criteria and metrics is essential when dealing with variable experiences (onboarding, mentorship, work allocation) across offices.

  3. Auditing existing processes before proposing a new framework ensures proposals are grounded in reality - avoids generic or unrealistic guidelines.

  4. Transparent evaluation helps improve accountability and quality, especially in internship programs where intern welfare and learning depend heavily on process consistency.
