A redesign of PLN’s internal dashboards to manage Asset Management, Financial Risk, and ESG (Environment-Social-Governance) verticals - consolidating complex data flows and executive needs into a unified, user-centred dashboard.

PLN Indonesia, the country’s state-owned electricity provider, partnered with McKinsey to streamline and strengthen its Asset, Risk, and ESG management systems. McKinsey supported the project with strategic guidance and domain expertise, enabling a more structured redesign process.

The existing dashboard, spread across multiple, disconnected modules, lacked clarity and usability for different verticals (Assets, Risk, ESG).

Data and design gaps: poor information hierarchy, inconsistent UI, difficult navigation and unclear executive-level views for decision-making.

Stakeholders lacked clear insight into key metrics due to poor data presentation and a lack of tailored dashboards across roles.

User-Flow Mapping & Information Architecture: Conducted a 3-day design workshop (SWOT analysis, stakeholder interviews, prioritisation), mapped high-level and detailed flows for each vertical; resulted in clear, role-based dashboards that align with executive needs, improving clarity and usability.

Dashboard Redesign & Visual Data-Representation: Audited existing screens, reworked UI, revamped data visualisations and hierarchy - delivered clean, data-driven dashboards that make complex metrics accessible, aiding faster and more informed decision-making.

Design System & Scalable Architecture: Recommended and laid out design system and hierarchy improvements to support expansion across verticals; provided PLN with a scalable, maintainable dashboard framework for future growth and better stakeholder alignment.
